This program trains individuals to become technicians who work in manufacturing companies, mainly in the agri-food and pharmaceutical sectors as well as in environmental laboratories. They can also find employment in the laboratories of biotechnology businesses or in the sectors of industrial chemistry, mining and metallurgy, petrochemistry, materials as well as pulp and paper.
Laboratory technicians have the skills and knowledge required to take samples, perform organic chemical and biochemical analyses by using certain instrumental methods, compile and process data, write reports and share results, while respecting occupational health and safety regulations as well as good laboratory and manufacturing practices.
Specialization A: Biotechnology
Biotechnology technicians will be able to use micro-organisms and cells; conduct biochemical, microbiological and immunological analyses; carry out genetic engineering activities and conduct toxicity and ecotoxicity tests for the purposes of quality control, research and development as well as production.
This program aims to help students develop their sense of responsibility, sense of observation, concern for accuracy and ability to work as part of a team.
Specialization B: Analytical Chemistry
Analytical chemistry technicians will be able to conduct inorganic and organic chemistry analyses and help develop original methods of analysis for the purposes of quality control, research and development as well as production.
This program aims to help students develop their sense of responsibility, sense of observation, concern for accuracy and ability to work as part of a team.
