Mining technicians are generally employed by consulting-engineering firms, drilling companies or blasting companies and are mandated with designing, planning and overseeing the mining of natural resources in underground mines, open-cast mines and quarries.
These technicians perform mining implementation activities, plan and control production of ore or granulates, control terrain stability, control and optimize ventilation, support mining staff and lastly, help carry out mining engineering projects.
Mining technicians work under the supervision of mining engineers, geological engineers, geologists, a foreperson, a head miner, a site manager or chief site engineer. They work in collaboration with drill operators, miners, blasters, maintenance personnel, consultants and engineering project contractors.
