This program trains individuals to become opticians. Students learn the art of eyewear, how to adjust contact lenses, the physiology of the eye, sales and communication techniques, concepts of physics and chemistry related to the discipline, and management.
In order to practise their profession, graduates must pass the exam administered by the Ordre des opticiens d’ordonnances du Québec. Entering the job market is relatively easy and most positions are permanent and full time. For those who wish to run their own business, there is potential for development in small urban centres.
