This program trains individuals to actively participate in optimizing the production of goods and services in various sectors of economic activity. These individuals help make companies more competitive by continually improving productivity, efficiency and profitability. They analyze, implement, regulate, control and improve methods, procedures and processes that impact production. Their services are required both in terms of production and engineering.
With a view to improving production, these technicians can be called upon to help plan and launch production, ensure quality control, provide supervision, perform maintenance and resolve issues. They can also provide technical support for the development of manufacturing procedures.
Industrial engineering technicians are also called upon to directly intervene with the engineering team in order to analyze the production process and suggest new methods and technologies or contribute to research and development. These interventions aim to meet customer requirements, increase product quality, boost productivity, reduce production costs and meet standards such as those pertaining to the environment. After working for a relatively short period of time, technicians may be entrusted with research or implementation projects, most notably with relation to quality assurance, occupational health and safety, and productivity.
Industrial engineering technicians work in companies of all sizes. They may have to deal directly with a variety of individuals who are involved in different projects, both internally and externally.
