This program provides individuals with the skills and knowledge they need to design various mechanical components, plan for the manufacturing of these components and ensure quality control. The program also aims to help students understand, analyze, summarize and manage information pertaining to mechanics. Students must constantly adapt to rapid and constant changes in technology. They will be required to use technical documentation written in both French and English.
Depending on the type of company mechanical engineering technicians work for, they may be called upon to do machining work, develop production lines, program numerical control machines, create tools, design prototypes, ensure quality control, handle equipment planning and maintenance as well as organize production or coordinate certain tasks. Mechanical engineering technicians can also take part in research and development activities.
